Westville Town Council will vote on July 8, 2026 on whether to proceed with a $4.2 million recreational facility upgrade. The project, if approved, would be funded jointly by the Town of Westville, the Nova Scotia Community Sport & Recreation Infrastructure Fund, and federal Rural Economic Development funding.
What would be upgraded?
- Replacement of the existing arena refrigeration plant (current system is 38 years old)
- New accessible change rooms and washrooms
- Expansion of the community meeting room
- Addition of a fitness room (open to all ages)
Financing
The town's share would be approximately $1.1 million, funded through a 15-year debenture at an estimated cost of $62/household/year in additional taxes.
Public session
A public information meeting was held June 24, 2026. Written comments to the mayor's office are accepted until July 7, 2026.
