Teams from across Nova Scotia take to the East River in colourful dragon boats for one of the region's most exciting summer competitions. Spectators welcome — live music and food on the riverbank.
The Race on the River Dragon Boat Festival brings dozens of teams and hundreds of paddlers to New Glasgow for a full day of intense competition, teamwork, and community spirit.
**Race Schedule:**
- Heats begin at 8:30 AM
- Finals and championship races in the afternoon
- Awards ceremony at 5:00 PM
**Spectator Experience:**
- Free to watch from the riverbank — bring a lawn chair
- Food vendors and refreshments
- Live entertainment between races
- Kids activities including a junior paddling clinic
- Corporate and community team registration open — all fitness levels welcome
Proceeds support cancer research and local health initiatives.
