From a waterfront fish shack serving live-cooked lobster to a craft distillery making gold-medal vodka, here's where to eat and drink in Pictou County.

Eating well in Pictou County means starting with the obvious: lobster, haddock, and whatever else came off a fishing boat that morning. But the county's food scene extends beyond the wharf.

Logan's Daily Catch (Pictou Waterfront) North Nova Seafoods operates Logan's Daily Catch from a seasonal counter at 2 Depot Street on the Pictou waterfront. The menu is straightforward — live or cooked lobster, fresh haddock, halibut, cod, and scallops. Lobster rolls are available to eat on the waterfront boardwalk. Everything is locally sourced and moving quickly through the counter. Open from mid-June through late December.

Stone Soup Cafe (Pictou) A short walk from the waterfront, Stone Soup Cafe has been singled out repeatedly for serving the best seafood chowder in the province — a meaningful distinction in Nova Scotia, where competing chowders are taken seriously. The breakfast and lunch menu goes beyond chowder, with creative daily specials. The harbour view from the café adds to the experience.

Harbour House Ales & Spirits (Pictou) At 41 Coleraine Street on the Pictou waterfront, Harbour House combines a full pub menu with craft beer, live entertainment, and a patio overlooking the water. Fresh seafood dominates the menu — haddock, scallops, lobster in season — alongside more conventional pub fare. Hours extend later on weekends, making it the natural place to spend an evening on the waterfront.

New Glasgow Farmers Market (Saturdays, 9 am–1 pm) More than 70 vendors assemble on the New Glasgow riverfront every Saturday morning. Local spirits, fresh fish, honey, baked goods, Nova Scotia grown ginger, and locally raised meats all appear here, along with prepared foods from a rotating cast of vendors.

Nova Scotia Spirit Co. (Stellarton) The Blue Lobster Public House in Stellarton is the on-site taproom and store for Nova Scotia Spirit Co., which has been making spirits in Pictou County since 2015. Their Blue Lobster Vodka won a gold medal at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition — not a small thing. The distillery also produces rum, gin, and a vodka soda line. The on-site store carries the full product range alongside local ciders, beers, and wines.
